Dynamic light scattering for particle size distribution and zeta potential.
Malvern · Zetasizer Nano
What it does
Particles suspended in a liquid move under Brownian motion, and the scattered light fluctuates as they do. Analysing those fluctuations gives the hydrodynamic size distribution. A related measurement of how particles migrate in an electric field gives the zeta potential, which predicts whether a suspension will stay dispersed or aggregate.
Key capabilities
- Hydrodynamic size distribution
- Zeta potential and colloidal stability
- Aggregation studies over time or temperature
- Small sample volumes
Applications
Nanoscience · Biotechnology · Pharmaceutical · Environmental
Sample types
Nanoparticle suspensions, colloids, emulsions, liposomes and protein solutions.
